Elle Macpherson

Seriously, what’s with celebrities looking so good in airports?  When I get on an airplane I want to be in sweatpants and a t-shirt…but then again I’m not a celebrity, nor are the paparazzi following me.  Anyway, I love Elle’s style in this.  It’s boho and comfortable and cute at the same time.

WhoWhatWear.com broke down what Elle is wearing in this photo.  Although she is casual and comfortable, it comes at a pretty steep price.

Sweater: $332

Embellished Jeans: $106

Purse: $294

Boots: $198

That’s just under $1,000 for a day in the airport.  Celebrities are pretty damn lucky. But, if you’re an unlucky, normal person like me, I’ll show you how to get the look for less. Just keep on reading!

Personally, I would pair this with super ripped jeans.  Elle has a mix of embellished and ripped jeans, which are pretty hard to find.  But, as an alternative,  Here is a cool pair from American Eagle.

Lily Collins

Lily Collins is relatively new on the Hollywood scene.   Not many people know her as well as other young female actresses.  She’s best known for her role in The Blind Side.

I think she is absolutely adorable and I’ve watched her style evolve since she first hit the celebrity scene.  Here she’s sporting a more rugged, motor chic style. She’s paired a printed chiffon shirt with a leather vest, ripped jeans, and a chic pair of black pumps.

This is a great look if you want to amp up your casual style and really stand out.

The great thing about this look, is that you can pair any colored pump with this outfit.  Since Lily is wearing light wash jeans and a black top and jacket, she could have gone any direction with her accessories.  If you want to be a little bolder, add a colored clutch or a pop of color in your shoes. Have fun!

Nicole Richie

Nicole Richie is an American fashion designer, so its no surprise that she is always dressed to impress.  I think Nicole has gotten a bad rap in the past, which was well deserved because she was a bit off the walls.  But I think she has really come around, and it definitely shows in her sense of style.  She always looks cute and put together.  The picture shown here is no different. Love her look.

I love this tank top, and pretty much every other tank top at Tobi.  But I think these plain tanks are awesome to have in your closet.  You can pair them with a skirt like Nicole has on.  You can pair them with cut off shorts like this model is wearing.  Under a blazer, with leggings, the possibilities are endless. And so are the colors!

I left out the bag because I think you can pair any bag with this outfit.  I think it would look awesome with a pop of color in the bag, like red or a bright blue.  So get creative with your accessories and have fun!

50 for a Fashionista: Shoes

Hey fashionistas,

This is the final post in my three part series.  The first part was on clothes and the second part was on accessories.  All of these posts are things that I feel are closet essentials.  Keep reading for essential shoes that should be in your closet!

1. The black pump. A black pump is essential, whether you are wearing it on a date, at the office, or just a night out.  It’s so versatile and can go with any outfit (since its black). The black pump will always be in style and will always be classy.

2. The “oh-so boho” chunky wooden platforms. These are perfect for summer, especially with a cute summer dress.  They are a great alternative to boring sandals or flip flops. I would also group burlap wedges, cork wedges, and all those summer heels into this category as well.

ShoeDazzle: Maeve Black Side Strappy Sandals $39.95 (Find it here).

3. Strappy sandals. Strappy sandals are a much more fashionable pair of shoes than flip flops.  These are great to have in your closet especially if you can find a comfortable and affordable pair.  Below are some of my favorites.

Pacsun: Black Poppy Ankle Cross Sandals $24.50 (Find it here).

Old Navy: Women’s Cross Strap Sandals $19.94 (Find it here).

UrbanOG: Strappy Thong Flat Sandal $17.20 (Find it here).

4. The ankle bootie. I don’t even want to mention the amount of ankle booties I own.  These are so cute to wear with any outfit.  Ankle booties can be worn in warmer weather with cut off shorts or cute dresses or they can be worn in the fall or winter with leggings and jeans.  I would definitely consider these my most essential shoe.

5. The black (knee-high) boot

6. The ballet flat. The great thing about ballet flats is there are so many different style and color options. However, these aren’t the most comfortable things in my opinion.  They are great for work and casual days though.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this post.  I know I didn’t reach 50 items but these are the ones from the list that I thought were most essential to me.  If you just add a few of these pieces to your wardrobe, you can really mix and match to find a great set of outfits.  If you would like to read the original article with all 50 essential pieces, check it out!

50 for a Fashionista: Accessories

Welcome to part two of my 50 for a Fashionista series.  I did a post on the first twenty or so essential items that women should have in their wardrobe.  I found this article and thought it would be really fun to recreate it and find the items on the list for less.  The first post was on clothes and this one will be on the essential accessories.  Enjoy!

1. A black thin waist belt. Thin waist belts are extremely fashionable.  They are a huge trend especially in different colors.  I think a black one is the most important because its such a versatile color, you can almost always wear it with anything.

2. A nude belt. I don’t own a nude belt, but I have my fair share of colored and black thin belts.  I think nude is a great idea because it will also go with any outfit.

3. A great pair of gloves. I can’t stress enough how important gloves are, especially a “great” pair.  I used to buy any old pair of gloves from Wal-Mart or something but this year I invested in a really nice pair from Macy’s.  The difference is amazing.  They are so much warmer and much better quality.  Not to mention…fashionable.

4. An infinity scarf. Comfortable, inexpensive, and affordable.  What more could you want?

5. Red handbag. A red handbag was included in the post because of its color.  A red (or any colored handbag really) will make an outfit stand out.  If you wear a lot of neutrals or blacks, this would be an essential for your closet.

ShoeDazzle: Chandler $39.95 (Find it here).

6. A black tote.

7. Crossbody bag.

8. A clutch. Yes, I love clutches.  I think they are so much better than lugging around a huge purse when you go out. Plus, they are so stylish and versatile.  Below are a few of my favorites.

Forever21: Faux Leather Clutch $19.80 (Find it here).

Francesca’s: Gladys Envelope Clutch in mint $28.00 (Find it here).

9. The perfect watch. This might be the only one on the list that I suggest investing in.  I got a Fossil rose gold toned watch as a gift and it is absolutely beautiful.  I can wear it casually or for dressier outfits.  You definitely want the perfect watch that can go both ways and work with any outfit.

10. Diamond studs. Many people might not agree with this.  If pearls are your earring of choice then those are your essentials.  I’m not saying these have to be real diamond studs, but I’m also not saying they have to be cheap diamond studs from Claire’s.  I really like the Piercing Pagoda’s options.  I think diamond earrings really add class to any outfit.

11. Layerable bracelets. I love having layered bracelets in my accessories collection.  Forever21 has amazing options for layered bracelets. Below are some of my favorites.

12. Sunglasses. Yes. Duh. Check out Forever21 for cheap sunglasses in every style.

13. Stackable rings.

Thanks for reading part to of my 50 for a Fashionista! Stay tuned for part three: SHOES!!

50 for a Fashionista: Clothes

Hey Fashionistas!

This post is going to be a little different from my usual ones.  I came across a pin on Pinterest about 50 pieces of clothing that can change your wardrobe and I thought it was really interesting.  There’s three parts to this clothes, shoes, and accessories.  So this post will be on clothes.  The writer focuses on each section and essential “must-have” pieces in your closet.  But, they don’t include pictures or examples of any of the articles of clothing.  Many people might not know what some of these pieces look like, so I thought I would add some pictures for everyone from inexpensive stores.  I also took out some pieces that I didn’t feel were essentials.  I thought this was really fun and I hope you enjoy!

Find the full list in the original article. You can read the original article here!

1. A pair of dark wash skinny jeans. This is definitely an essential for me, especially for the fall.  I would recommend a pair of black skinny jeans as well I love the dark washes at PacSun and American Eagle.  Cheap and the perfect fit.

2. The chambray top

If you don’t know what a chambray top is, its a really big trend this year. It’s pretty much a denim button up shirt.  I have one from PacSun and its perfect for the fall with a pair of leggings. Definitely an essential. (Find it here). Shown on the right.

3. The striped long sleeve. Check out Old Navy. (Find it here).

4. A black boyfriend blazer. Shown below (Find it here).

5. A pair of colored jeans. Definitely need a few pairs of colored jeans in your closet.  Pick the right colors and they can work for any season.

6. The LBD (Little Black Dress)

7. Leather Jacket. I can’t stress enough how much I love having a leather jacket in my wardrobe.  I spent a long time trying to find the perfect one and I finally did at Macy’s.  It’s so versatile, I can dress anything up with it for a night out or dress it down for class or something.  Make sure you pick the right one.  Some look a little cheap, so you want one that is well made and fashionable.  Check out Macy’s, I got mine on sale for $30, originally over $100.  So it was well made and super classy.

8. Jean Jacket. There are pages and pages of affordable jean jackets at Forever 21 (Find it here).

9. A pair of cut off denim shorts. Duh.

10. The perfect white t-shirt. (Find it here).

11. A great day dress. I think day dresses are great.  I love having them in my closet to throw on for class or for those hot summer days when you just don’t want to wear shorts again.  Here are a few of my favorites this season:

Tobi: Hallowed Garden Dress $24 (Find it here).

PacSun: Mix ‘N it Up Dress $39.50 (Find it here).

12. A big chunky sweater. Yes. Yes. Yes. You always need a chunky sweater, if not many chunky sweaters.  These are so easy to throw on with leggings and pair of boots in the fall.  If you pick a lighter sweater you could even wear it with a pair of denim shorts in the spring.  Must have.

13. A striped blazer

14. The “I’m sexy and I know it” dress

15. A pencil skirt. This is something I don’t yet own.  I figured once I step into the real world I would probably buy a pencil skirt as a part of my new work wardrobe.  I think this is a good piece to have even if you are not in professional environment.  Pencil skirts can be perfect to dress up for any occasion.

16. Pea coat jacket. DKNY Short Double Breasted Peacoat Women’s Coat. Shown below

17. Fun winter jacket. Check out Macy’s, all their winter jackets are usually on sale now.

18. strapless nude bra. Self explanatory.

19. no show underwear. Again self explanatory and a must.

Are these in your closet? Stay tuned for more posts on essential wardrobe pieces!

Kate Middleton

Alright, I don’t know how she does it, but Kate Middleton always looks perfect.  She has become so iconic in the fashion world and really exploded onto the style scene.  I mean seriously she has a whole website dedicated to her style. Check it out.

I think her outfits are really unique to her personality and lifestyle.  This is a pretty casual look that you can easily replicate.  Unfortunately, it would probably be pretty hard to find most of the dresses she wears.  I’d love to just look into her closet for a day.  But, I really like this look because it’s something I would actually wear as an everyday outfit.

Enjoy!

Everything from her beautiful dresses to her iconic duchess hats, Kate Middleton really knows how to wear an outfit.  She always looks presentable and classy. Definitely someone you want to look out for.

They are going to have one stylish kid running around.  Who’s ready for a royal baby?

David Beckham

Male Fashion! YAY!

David Beckham is a professional soccer player that has played for numerous different teams.  He’s married to Victoria Beckham (a.k.a Posh Spice) and is a super cool dad.  Oh and he’s also a major hunk.  He recently teamed up with H&M and is their new celeb model.  (Ladies, if you have yet to check out his campaign…I suggest you do).

Here, David is wearing a casual look, probably around the town or through an airport.  I definitely love this look, not just because its David Beckham, but I think he really looks put together.  This could go either way, a beanie and sweatshirt thrown over your bag may sometimes look a little sloppy.  But he’s not pairing them with sweats, he’s wearing khakis and black T which makes him much more classy.

Enjoy!
